The Council shall consist of the:
i. President
ii. Three Vice Presidents
iii. General Secretary
iv. Assistant Secretary/Treasurer
v. Four committee members and appointed members as are prescribed from time to time in this constitution
It may act notwithstanding any form of vacancy in its composition and shall prescribe all matters concerning the manner, conduct and timing of elections, including the procedures for nominating candidates, the periods of office of elected members, eligibility for reelection, and the procedure for dealing with casual vacancies in accordance with this the institute Election Guidelines in Schedule 2.
Appointed members
Appointed members of Council shall be nominated by the institute in accordance with the institute Election Guidelines and the Council shall prescribe all matters relating to the appointment and tenure of such appointed members.
Honorary Officers
a. All Elected Council members shall be Honorary Officers of the Institute. Out of pocket expenses to attend meetings and commitments of the institute shall be paid according to existing rates.
b. The Council may exercise the power of delegation at any time and under any conditions.
Cessation of Membership of the National Council A member of the National Council may tender his/her resignation by notice to the Council and on its acceptance by the National Council, but not until then, he/she shall cease to be a member of the National Council.
Election of the National Council Members Elected members of the National Council shall be elected by the voting members of the Institute in accordance with this constitution.
Conduct and Timing of Elections The election of council members shall be conducted every two years, which shall be equivalent to one term.
Eligibility for Re-election Elected members shall be eligible for re-election on the completion of one term upon being voted out in a scheduled election.
Election Process a. Members of the National Council shall be elected at an Annual General Meeting by secret ballot as guided by the Elections Guidelines in Schedule 2 of this Constitution for such a period as provided in this constitution and they shall also form the members of the National Council. The office of all elected National Council Members shall be honorary. b. The administration of the institute shall be vested with the National Council of the Institute.
