1. Attend quarterly meetings of the institute
  2. Write articles for publication in the FIEH website. The president shall write a column for every issue. Committee Chairs shall write articles updating the
    membership on the status of committees.
  3. Attend all annual and special general meetings scheduled.
  4. Report on annual and special general meeting as necessary.

The President shall:

  1. Act as the Chief Executive Officer of the institute.
  2.  Oversee the treasury and the budget.
  3.  Supervise staff.
  4.  Act within the confines of the Constitution and the policies established by the membership and the National Council.
  5.  Ensure appropriate defense of any member whose job rights have been threatened.
  6. Supervise the implementation of National Council decisions.
  7.  Supervise the implementation of institute policies and programs.
  8.  Represent the institute before bodies of the employer, community organizations, legislative officials, and news media.
  9.  Act as liaison with the Allied Health Society.
  10.  Oversee the development and implementation of programs to help all members strengthen their professional knowledge and practices and mentor and support less experienced colleagues.
  11. Oversee the recruitment of new members.
  12. Appoint, with the approval of the National Executives, committees to facilitate institute needs.
  13. Be able to delegate the responsibilities of the office except where otherwise specified by the Constitution.

The Vice-President shall:

  1. Temporarily assume the duties of the President in the event of resignation or absence of the President, until a new President is appointed by the National Council or for the remainder of the term if regularly scheduled elections will be held by the end of the current term.
  2. Carry out all responsibilities delegated by the President of assigned by the National Council.
  3. Advice and support the National Council in membership building strategies and the development of their chapters
  4.  Assist in matters of members grievances as necessary

The General Secretary shall:

  1.  Record and keep accurate minutes of all membership and National Council meetings, including date of meeting, date minutes were adopted, members present, decisions and votes taken
  2. Oversee the work of, and receive and certify the reports of, the Elections Committee.
  3. Assist in gathering data for institute related negotiations as requested by the National Council
  4. Answer questions, concerns and complaints from institute members and make referrals as appropriate
  5. Assist in attending to the early stage of complaints/grievances. Help with data collection. Assist in later stages of complaints/grievances only as requested.
  6. Assist, support and strengthen the organization and development of branches in each division.
  7. Solicit, schedule and direct volunteers for institute activities
  8. Remain current with all appropriate state laws and administrative rules and regulations that impact on the institute’s responsibilities.
  9. Maintain current database of institute members
  10. Maintain and develop communication with key community and state contacts
  11. Handle routine correspondence of the institute, including responding, filing and routing to appropriate person
  12. Distribute external communications
  13. Provide meeting support: scheduling, room reservations, materials, refreshments
  14. Coordinate the management of the institute’s website
  15. Advertise conferences and training opportunities for elected and voting members of the institute in a timely manner

The Treasurer shall:

  1. Oversee the fiscal affairs of the Local and report periodically to the membership and the Executive Committee on the financial state of the Local
  2. Act as a signatory, with the General Secretary and the President on financial instruments.
  3. Receive and deposit all dues monies and other income of the institute.
  4. Disburse funds as required for the payment of per capitas, salaries and stipends, expense reimbursements, purchases or other expenses of the institute, according to the institute’s budget
  5. Maintain all financial records of the institute.
  6. Assist in the preparation of the budget
  7.  Prepare financial statements and transmit per capita dues and special assessments to the bodies in the government and outside with which the institute is affiliated, as required by the Constitution and the procedures of other bodies if required under the laws of Fiji.
  8. Prepare financial statements and submission of reports for all external needs, including FRCA
  9.  Oversee an annual independent financial audit of the institute’s finances, and make audit reports available to the National Council and the membership.

An elected member of the National Council shall:

  1. Serve as a resource and support to members on institute issues
  2.  Take advantage of leadership/training opportunities, such as meetings, conferences, institutes and conventions by invoking members’ representation.
  3.  Function as a communicator:
    i. Maintain bulletin boards in the Division offices
    ii. Distribute newsletters and flyers
    iii. Welcome new members and ensure proper orientation on institute matters.
    iv. Discuss important issues and inform institute members of policy decisions
    v. Organize divisional institute meetings at least once per quarter
    vi. Inform members of the institute membership benefits
  4.  Function as a problem-solver:
    a. Answer questions, concerns and complaints and make referrals as appropriate
    b. Identify work related problems that affected members welfare
  5.  Function as team builder:
  6.  Organize regional social events for the institute
  7. Attend the National Council meetings as necessary
